Can you repair Roller Blinds by reusing fabric or old barrel / poles?
Your existing roller blinds can sometimes be repaired, maybe a new barrel or side winder mechanism is not required but your fabric has seen better days or you just want to change your colourscheme, if so we can provide replacement fabric, contact us with your window sizes so we can calculate costings for you.
If your fabric is in reasonable shape but may need re-scalloping/shaping we can help you with this. If the blinds are from us previously we would always leave extra fabric so there would be enough that we can simple cut off the bottom shape and rescallop/shape your blind.
Sometimes ther may be marks too far up the fabric to do this successfully but if it's a plain fabric or has a suitable design we could also remove the fabric completely from your barrel / pole and turn it upside down so now the most worn fabric at the bottom becomes the top and the clean fresh fabric which was hidden in the roll on the barrel will become the new bottom once we put a new finish on it, this can be the same shape as before or a new shape. Contact us and we will be able to advise on the best or most suitable options and price accordingly.
We have always endeavoured to look after our customers on repairs for damaged blinds, however, if you're outside the warranty period we will still call to you or send out repair kits for a nominal fee.
How do I maintain my Roller & Vertical Blinds?
With very little effort roller and vertical blinds can be easily maintained to keep from accumulating dust.
A vacuum cleaner with a clean suitable nozzle could be used occasionally to clean dust while minor stains may need a gentle wipe with a damp cloth or baby wipe, a test should be done first on a hidden area in case of staining. Do not be rough on the fabric as its coating may get damaged or its colour may fade.
When major cleaning is required, kindly use the above guidelines. If this doesn't work then maybe fabric can be replaced, this will incur a cost. It's advisable to keep a note of the fabric from your blind order in case of irreparable damage or heavy soiling.
In case of severe damage to your roller blinds or when major cleaning is required it is advisable to contact us, depending on the severity of the damage and the fabric design there may be enough on the roller to cut off and remake the bottom of the blind, please be aware that this will incur a fee.
How do I maintain my Venetian Blinds?
Wood and Aluminium blinds should be dusted regularly with a feather duster as with a little effort they're more easily maintained to keep from accumulating dust. A feather duster is suitable for light dust but if left for longer periods your venetian blinds may require a more thorough individual slat dusting and cleaning.
How should I clean my curtains?
Curtains should not be taken down and put in a washing machine, we don't even recommend dry cleaning as fabrics and linings do not respond well and shrink differently.
A regular vacuum with a clean appropriate hoover nozzle attachment and protective cloth is appropriate for keeping your curtains dust free.
An occasional dust or wipe with a clean and soft damp cloth or standard baby wipe to clean the tops or any dust accumilation should be sufficient, a test should be done first on a hidden area in case of staining.
Minor stains may need a gentle wipe with a soft damp cloth or standard baby wipe, and as mentioned before a test should be done first on a hidden area in case of staining.
Please be gentle and do not scrub the fabric as it could lead to marking or damage.
If you feel you need to freshen them up more you could give them a gentle steam but be sure to use the correct nozzle attachment and fabric protector.
A very light spray of silicone lubricant can also help with the gliding quality of the of a poles rings or eyelets.
